Coauthor Summary of 2024

Like many people, I used Coauthor to give me a summary of my LinkedIn contributions in 2024.  Coauthor essentially uses AI to summarise what I wrote over the course of the year and the changes made to my profile.  As ever, it is scarily good at providing a summary of my content and providing it in a form of words that I like.

This was the summary it provided of the year

“From opening Petex to saying goodbye to dear friends, 2024 taught me that success - in sales and life - comes from genuine human connections.”

Which was a reasonable summary, extracting content from two of my most viewed posts.

Coauthor also provided this further summary:

“This year reinforced three core principles I've always championed:

- The best sales aren't about products - they're about solving real problems

- Preparation beats improvisation every time

- Value matters more than price (90% of you disagreed with me on this one!)”

Again, nothing that I would argue with.

The summary also provided me with the three posts that received the most views which I will admit, I already knew so this didn’t come as a surprise.

Finally, it provided a neat ending to the whole summary:

“To every sales professional feeling pressured to choose between results and relationships: you don't have to. The best results come from building real connections.”

Which I did like.

So, what can we learn from this?

It should not be a surprise that AI is able to provide a great summary of a vast quantity of text.  It provides nice words that can be used without ever having to think about them which very definitely saves me time.  However, on this occasion, it mainly provided me with information that I already knew.

What was useful was that it provided me with content for a LinkedIn post and a blog, which I always appreciate, and is exactly what Coauthor is designed to do.  Coauthor will get to know you deeply – your experiences, insights, and how you naturally communicate.  You then submit some simple thoughts, via voice or text and it will craft posts that sound authentically like you.

It will no doubt save time but I’m not quite sure it will ever quite sound like me!  added to which, I find that the longest part of the process is actually thinking of the initial idea rather than writing the text.  However, I’ll reserve judgement till I see what the cost is and determine whether it is really worth it.
