About Hoolock Consulting

Hoolock Consulting

Hoolock Consulting was founded by Tim Gibbons in 2015 to provide sales training and consulting services to sales teams.  We recognised the need to provide training that was tailored to the specific needs of the team and the specific products that they were selling.

We support a variety of companies but our particular focus is with technology and technical services where many of the people involved in sales have a technical background rather than a pure sales background.

We provide a variety of services that are tailored to the exact needs of each company. These include online training, in-person training and consulting.

Hoolock Gibbon

The company is named after a specific species of gibbon, the Hoolock Gibbon.   They are native to eastern Bangladesh, Northeast India and Southwest China.   The existing population is small and because of poaching and habitat problems, the species is under threat of extinction.

Hoolocks are the second-largest of the gibbons, after the siamang. They reach a size of 60 to 90 cm and weigh 6 to 9 kg. The sexes are about the same size, but they differ considerably in coloration: males are black-coloured with remarkable white brows, while females have a grey-brown fur, which is darker at the chest and neck. White rings around their eyes and mouths give their faces a mask-like appearance.

Like the other gibbons, they are diurnal and arboreal, brachiating through the trees with their long arms. They live together in monogamous pairs, which stake out a territory. Their calls serve to locate family members and ward off other gibbons from their territory. Their diet consists mainly of fruits, insects and leaves.

Gibbons are known most for their shrill calls and families constantly chatter throughout the day as they progress through the tree tops. It is believed that the name Hoolock is derived from the Assamese or Hindi word ‘ulluck’ meaning the loud call or howl of the gibbon.  It seemed appropriate to call the company after a chattering group of apes!
